Planning a wedding can be incredibly time consuming. I am a person who needs lots of “me time,” or lots of home time. I feel grounded when I am at home, so I like to log many hours of my free time in my home. The other day, my mom made a well-substantiated comment, “imagine planning a wedding without the internet.” This thought has definitely crossed my mind. How did she even write papers in college with the internet? Do people even use libraries anymore? At first glance, it seems the internet is a brilliant addition to wedding planning, and it is. There are many all encompassing websites that list vendors for every detail of your wedding. StLouisWeddings.com is great site to use, as well as the familiar theknot.com.
I was extremely pleased with these sites when looking for ceremony and reception sites. Now I have the task of toiling over photographers. I used both sites mentioned earlier, and decided that there are way too many photographers in St. Louis. I have now changed my mind about the internet being useful in wedding planning. Instead the internet is providing me way too many options, causing my head to explode. Now I find myself reminiscing of what similar times were like when there was only one brand of shampoo and not an entire aisle.
The truth is that the internet can be incredibly useful. Yes it may provide a list of photographers rivaling Santa’s list of naughty and nice, but it also has numerous articles concerning what questions to ask a photographer and the hazards of hiring a professional. So I won’t throw in the towel on the internet just yet. Instead I will listen to my mom, as a daughter should, and be appreciative for the various options and technology offered today.

Great article – good luck in finding a photographer.
Where is your ceremony and reception going to be??
Happy Wedding Planning and many blessings….

Thanks. Our ceremony and reception are both going to be at 9th Street Abbey in Soulard. Should be fun!
